I am fond of a number of famous Latin sayings, which I list here. I think Latin deserves a little bit of attention during such a special day.

De gustibus non est disputandum.

De mortuis nihil nisi bene.

Divide et impera.

Dubito, ergo cogito; cogito ergo sum.

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.

Errare humanum est sed perseverare diabolicum.

Ex nihilo nihil fit.

Festina lente!

Gaudeamus igitur!

Gloriosum est iniurias oblivisci.

Historia est vitae magistra.

In vino veritas.

Medicus curat, natura sanat.

Memento mori.

Men sana in corpore sano.

Oculus animi index.

Repetitio mater studiorum est.

Roma die uno non aedificata est.

Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses.

Tarde venientibus ossa.

Tempus fugit, aeternitas manet.

Ubi bene, ibi patria.

Una hirundo non facit ver.

Usus magister est optimus.

Verba volant, scripta manent.
